Google search results will now look somewhat different as Google will be introducing the new knowledge graph. The company does this by creating a database of everything in the world. The results are based on Google’s new database of 500 million people, places, and things, says Jack Menzel, Product Management Director of Search at Google.

So what does this mean for you?

Google have designed their knowledge graph project to give the user more information about the topic they are searching, while also showing related items. It will suggest things you may like because of your topic, show you pictures and information on your topic. This will also enable you to narrow down your search.
Google plan to launch in the next few days.

Google – The Story of Send

Date May 16th, 2012 | Date May 16th, 2012  | Date No Comments  | Date Author:admin

Have you ever wondered how emails are sent from person to person?

Thanks to Google now you can. Google is bearing all in the form of a clever animation which shows you just how emails travel from your home, through underground wires and then into Google’s data centres and finally to the addressee. They have called this animation “The Story of Send”.

The story starts with the send button, then demonstrates through quirky animation to show the Gmail going through wires, traveling through infrastructure and going into Google’s data centres’.
Google highlights the security which exists within this infrastructure which includes cameras, iris scans and finger printing. After this stage the email then enters the networking room, where equipment sends it to the Gmail server. Here backups are created and the emails are scanned for viruses.

Google also demonstrates the measures on which they take to reduce its power needs and revels ways they are being green. Such as using fewer servers, purchase energy from wind farms, right down to the uniforms their employees wear. Employees were shorts to reduce costs on running air-conditioners.

This has helped to cut their energy costs by 50%. The company also says that: ‘Since 2007, we’ve recycled enough servers to avoid buying over 90,000 replacement machines. We always look for ways to reuse what we have, and when we can’t, we completely erase any data components and resell them.

This amusing witty video also shows people who may be afraid to send confidential emails that they are completely safe and Google understand the importance of keeping your data safe and secure. It is interesting to see the process of sending emails, something we may take for granted.

Why Have a Website?

Date May 16th, 2012 | Date May 16th, 2012  | Date No Comments  | Date Author:admin

A website is a collection of web pages, documents that are accessed through the Internet. Not every organization can afford television advertising, but a website provides a visualization component.

Your website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.  If a customer has questions that can be better answered on a website than over the phone, this is a valuable asset to your company. Between 80-95 percent of all website traffic usually comes from search engines. You can target visitors who are actively looking for you, your product, your service, or your information. A website is an extremely cost effective way to advertise to those who are already interested in what you have to offer.

The Internet has also allowed businesses to break through the geographical barriers and become accessible, virtually, from any country in the world by customers around the world. By offering convenience, a point of reference and that touch of individualized customer service, you ultimately add value to your offering and your customers experience a higher level of satisfaction.
